A Memory Called Empire by Arkady Martine
Ambassador Mahit Dzmare from Lsel station must, upon arriving at the city-planet at the very heart of the Teixcalaanli Empire, deal with a mysterious death, assassination attempts, and expansionist agendas. Mahit, hampered by circumstance, must also navigate a viper’s nest of court politics whilst resisting the seductive pull of the Teixcalaanli culture she’s admired her entire life.
I love the world building, the characters, the idea of the Imgao, all of it. Lovely space opera, highly enjoyable. Also, I adore Three Seagrass. ★★★★☆
