And Only to Deceive by Tasha Alexander
Meh, it was ok. Doubt I’ll bother reading any of the sequels. None of the characters were particularly interesting, and the story was very ho-hum.
The part where we were supposed to believe the protagonist’s suspicions of the obvious love-interest's nefariousness was tedious to say the least. Absolutely no twists, turns or surprises at all.
The writing was ok, though a couple of Americanisms had snuck into the text and felt jarring. All in all, meh. ★★★☆☆
