Saevus Corax Captures the Castle by K.J. Parker

The more things change, the more they stay the same for Saevus. Finally back to scavenging battlefields after an island getaway, he’s unwillingly roped into besieging a castle. Encounters with unwelcome relatives, cannibals, and an annoying woman he can’t seem to avoid (not that he really wants to) all complicate matters terribly.

The entirety of this book reads a bit like the final third of “Saevus Corax Deals with the Dead” in both style and content. I didn’t enjoy it quite as much as the first book due to this, but I did like it enough to finish the series. ★★★☆☆
